Stretching along the banks of the River Thames from the East End of London to the coasts of Kent and Essex, the Thames Gateway project is the biggest regeneration initiative in Western Europe. In under 20 years 120,000 houses will be built and over 180,000 jobs created.
One of the primary aims of this huge project is to create "sustainable communities" but building new houses and businesses alone will not achieve this. So what else is needed?
We believe the church has an essential role to play in promoting, integrating and serving these new and existing communities.
Having been selected by those delivering the first phase of these developments as their preferred partner for providing worship and community facilities, NKCC has a fantastic opportunity, from the outset, to play a major role in building and sustaining these communities.
NKCC is committed to providing a building that will enable it to play a role at the very heart of the community.

What will it take to turn the vision into reality? Bottom line - about £4 million!
£4 million is a lot of money but we believe we can raise it! NKCC has already raised nearly £1 million through sacrificial giving. The developers (Countryside Properties and Land Securities) have given us the land on a long lease at a peppercorn rent are contributing £½ million towards the cost. But we still need to raise another £2 million.
