October 2011: Salvation Print

The cultural theme for our teaching in October is “Salvation.” What a great theme. We have a great Saviour and a great salvation. This is a theme that has impacted us all and will impact everyone we have contact with. What does a church with a “salvation culture” look like? A key part of the NKCC vision is to develop an evangelistic/salvation culture. Here are the five aspects of that culture our strategy group recently identified:

  • every man, woman and child treasured, valued and loved by God and by us
  • the goodness of God shared unconditionally
  • every believer equipped and active in supernatural evangelism in their everyday life
  • an open, accepting and releasing environment that helps others receive revelation of Jesus and meet with him
  • people confident to invite their friends amongst us knowing they will be accepted by people and Jesus
  • more evangelists emerging to develop our evangelistic culture and effectiveness

Over the next month we want to explain and apply some of these things through talks, reading, small group discussion, testimony and opportunities to put things into practice.

Expected Outcome

To increase our passion and effectiveness to influence as many as possible to follow Jesus.

Declarations of faith
Declarations – don’t you just love them?

What are they? Essentially they are declarations of faith. They are things we are convinced are true and will come about. They will come about not just because we declare them, but because we believe they are true and therefore we are happy to declare them.

Ask yourself if the following are what you believe, if not make some up yourself. The process of thinking this through will help you live a life of faith in this area of your Christian experience.

Declarations are as much statements about what you believe to be true for the future as well as what you are experiencing currently:

  1. My God is a great God and he loves me
  2. I am a witness to Christ
  3. I love those who don’t know Jesus
  4. God is speaking to my non-Christians friends all the time
  5. People around me want to know Jesus and get saved
Questions to consider as an individual or in a group
  1. What stands out for you most as you consider John 3v3 and John 3v16?
  2. Read Acts 26v15-19. Do you, like Paul, continue to burn with the testimony of your own conversion. If not, do you know why?
  3. What is your personal approach to sharing this great salvation?
  4. What dreams and visions do you have about seeing others come into God’s kingdom? What might the next step to realizing these dreams look like?
  5. Who are the key people around you that could help you grow in living and sharing your salvation story?
  6. What is your plan to connect with these people more?
  7. Based on these thoughts above what will you personally declare in this cultural theme?
