Beliefs and Values Print

NKCC is a member of the Evangelical Alliance which has a clear statement of beliefs entitled 'Basis of Faith' and NKCC adheres to this. Our values reflect what we see as important attributes of our church’s community life and they are shown below.

The Bible The Bible is our yardstick from which we do not deviate - it is our guide by which we determine everything we believe and do. We believe it is a dynamic book through which God speaks to us and guides us.
Prayer Christians have a relationship with God and the privilege of intimate communication with Him. Prayer is simply about communicating and relating with God, personally and corporately, and should flow from joyful expectation not dutiful obligation.
Holy Spirit He is God and he brings the presence of God to us. He leads us into intimacy with God the Father and Jesus the son. He leads us into all truth and gives us power and gifts to live our Christian lives. We love His presence.
Wholeheartedness Jesus expected full devotion from those who followed Him. Nothing has changed! The commitment level is high and so are the rewards!
Fun God wants us to enjoy Him. Serving Him means hard work but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy ourselves along the way. God wants us to be joyful and gives us joy by the Holy Spirit.
Informality We aim to have an informal atmosphere in all our meetings and activities, whether on Sunday or during the week.
Flexibility We are not rigid in our structures although we are very firm in our beliefs. We believe we can always improve what we do and also that things change (but not our beliefs) as the church grows.
Friendship and Family Friendship and hospitality are very important to us which is why homegroups play a vital role in the church. Family life and children have a high priority in the life of NKCC. We want children to enjoy being part of the church which is why we place emphasis on them having fun.
Participation The church is a body in which everyone has a part to play. We expect people to participate in worship and we encourage the sharing of testimony, answers to prayer, prophesy etc. We expect each member of NKCC to be serving in some capacity for personal growth and mutual benefit.
Challenge As a church and individually we embrace the challenge of personal development and extending the Kingdom of God. Encouraging, teaching and correcting one another are important in this.
Generosity We want generosity to be obvious in all we do - in our praise and worship, in the giving of time and energy as we serve the church and others, in our hospitality, in giving thanks and in our use of money and possessions. Tithing - the giving of the first 10% of income to God - is a biblical principle and we encourage people to think and act this way.
Anointed Leadership God gives gifts of leadership to His church. In NKCC we recognise this and aim to develop leadership across the church, giving respect and honour to our leaders without putting them on a pedestal.
